Yoel Romero is set to challenge Israel Adesanya for the UFC Middleweight title at UFC 248 this weekend and he has an inspirational message for the fans.
Clearly, Romero’s physique is always in great condition, but it seems that the “Soldier of God” is also mentally prepared to take on “The Last Stylebender” at this weekend’s UFC 248 event in Las Vegas.
Yoel Romero recently spoke with ESPN, delivering an inspirational message to fans and spectators ahead of UFC 248.
”Muhammad (Ali) had the best defense in the heavyweight (division). The best moves, in the heavyweight (division). But… shorter man, dirty boxing… He beat him one time.” Yoel Romero explained. “Everything is possible in your life when you believe! When you believe, everything is possible. You have two hands like me. Everything is possible. Go. Go and take it. Whatever you want to do.”
Yoel Romero will enter the UFC 248 title fight headliner on a 2-fight losing steak. The Cuban suffered back-to-back decision losses to Middleweight contenders Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa. Despite He was given the fight as a replacement after Costa suffered a bicep injury, despite the Brazilian trying to use a fake doctor to get medically cleared by the UFC.
Going into the fight, pundits have Israel Adesanya as the betting favorite to win against Romero at UFC 248.
Based on the aforementioned interview, Yoel Romero might be looking to utilize his wrestling and dirty boxing to avoid a pure kickboxing contest against the taller and longer fighter in Adesanya.
Despite having a reach disadvantage, Romero remains confident that he will emerge victorious by way of knockout after the champion makes “one mistake”.
Adesanya clearly respects Romero, recently having stated that a win over Romero is necessary to secure his legacy.
