UFC Lightweight challenger Tony Ferguson was not happy with the reporter, who asked about his mental health, responding with “f*ck you.”
Ferguson was attending the UFC 249 pre-fight press conference yesterday for his upcoming UFC Lightweight title bout against the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov. The two men are set to clash in the main event of UFC 249 on April 18th, 2020 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Last year, Tony Ferguson was reportedly dealing with personal issues in his life, leaving some fans concerned about his well-being. In past interviews he has shut down questions regarding his personal life and mental health. The situation has not changed and Ferguson responded the same way this week.
One question during the UFC 249 pre-fight press conference didn’t sit well with Ferguson. A reporter asked Ferguson about his mental health struggles:
“I commend you for going headfirst into some mental health issues and working through that. It takes a lot of courage as a professional athlete, especially as a lot of people look up to you” said the reporter. “F*ck you.” Ferguson said after interruptin the reporter.
“I was giving you props. I was just wondering..” the reporter continued. “F*ck the advice, next question,” Ferguson responded.
“I wasn’t giving you advice, sir,” the reporter said back.
