UFC Flyweight contender Joseph Benavidez just proved that his guillotine chokes aren’t just reserved for fighters, but also celebrities.
Joseph Benavidez featured on the show Live with Kelly and Ryan to promote his upcoming title fight at UFC Norfolk this weekend. He showed off some of his techniques against Ryan Seacrest.
Benavidez is getting ready for his bout against Deiveson Figueiredo this weekend at UFC Fight Night 169 in Norfolk, Virginia. The two men will go at it for the vacant 125-pound title after Henry Cejudo was stripped of the title due to inactivity.
With his wife and UFC correspondent Megan Olivi there, Benavidez showcased his grappling skills on his volunteer partner, Ryan Seacrest.
Benavidez gave a walkthrough of how to correctly execute a guillotine choke, while simultaneously dodging the host’s very own farting technique. Benavidez applied the perfect guillotine choke, which made The American Idol host tap out quickly.
This weekend, we shall see if Benavidez can do the same to the No. 3 ranked Flyweight Deiveson Figueiredo. It will be the 3rd time Joseph Benavidez has competed for the Flyweight title. In his 2 previous attempts, he lost to Demetrious Johnson. Their first bout was a close contest, which ended in a split decision for Johnson. In their 2nd Octagon meeting, “Mighty Mouse” was able to secure a more decisive win, finishing Benavidez by knockout in the 1st round.
Meanwhile, Deiveson Figueiredo has put together 6 wins in 7 fights since joining the UFC in 2017. He only has 1 loss in his professional career. “Daico” enjoys putting people in a good guillotine choke, as seen in his last fight, when he successfully defeated Tim Elliott with the technique in the 1st round.
