UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko took to social media to defend Jon Jones following his recent arrest.
It was recently reported that UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones was arrested with multiple charges, including negligent use of a firearm. Albuquerque police recently released the footage of Jones’ arrest, you can watch it below:
This incident is not the first time Jones has had a run in with the law. He has previously been arrested for DUI and assault on different occasions. Understandably, many fans, as well as fellow fighters were extremely disappointed by the news of Jones’ recent arrest.
However, one person in his corner during this situation appears to be the UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina “Bullet” Shevchenko. She recently took to Twitter to express solidarity with the light-heavyweight champion:
“So sad the modern world is all about hype! Now many people starting to insult Jon Jones without knowing his real situation! Fighting on the same card , I could see he is kind and noble man ! Him being in all that difficult times – he will be back Stronger !”
The two UFC champion shared the UFC 247 card, defending their titles in the main and co-main event, respectively. Both fighters were successful in retaining their titles on that night and it appears that Shevchenko had a pleasant experience in meeting Jones throughout fight week.
Shevchenko is scheduled to defend her title against Joanne Calderwood at UFC 250 later this year. She has been training in Australia, alongside her other obligations in preparing for her acting debut in Halle Berry’s film “Bruised”.
