Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey recently shared a video of her and her husband Travis Browne’s readiness for the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.
Ronda Rousey is widely credited for bringing women’s MMA to the mainstream. She was voted the best female athlete of all-time in a 2015 ESPN fan poll, and Fox Sports described her as “one of the defining athletes of the 21st century”. Although Rousey did not officially announce her retirement, when asked if she would compete in professional MMA again by Ellen DeGeneres in 2018, Rousey replied, “I think it’s just as likely as me going back to another Olympics for judo”. She was also inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame for her achievements in the sport of MMA back in 2018
Now, she is married to Travis Browne, who is a former UFC heavyweight himself. They got married back in 2017 and neither of them have competed in MMA professionally since then.
They live together on a ranch in California and in a recent video posted to her Instagram, Rousey showed how her and Browne are living sustainably and let her fans know why she’s not worried about the outbreak of COVID-19 coronavirus.
The video shows the preparations they have taken, stocking up food, vegetables, fruit, water, and chickens and eggs in advance.
“Our coronavirus panic shopping list is: Nonexistent. It’s no secret I’ve been a proud preppier for years- but let’s all learn from this pandemic panic and be a little more self sufficient and prepared in the future. Taking steps to live sustainably takes time but ultimately saves money, permanently eliminates water and power bills, reduces our carbon footprint, and is just plain healthier,” Ronda Rousey wrote.
“We started @browsey_acres with just a compost bin and a few boxes of @soylent, which then became just a small herb garden, then a full garden (admittedly still under construction) then a few chickens, then a few more chickens (and ducks!), then a whole steer, then a solar roof, then a water catchment system. Start small! Just start! Let’s stop panicking and start preparing! Stay safe out there and #StayRowdyMyFriends!” Rousey concluded.
