Paulo Costa will be in attendance for tonight’s eagerly awaited UFC 248 Middleweight title bout between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero.
The Brazilian powerhouse was initially scheduled to face Adesanya for the UFC Middleweight title, but was forced to withdraw due to a bicep injury. Instead of waiting for Costa to return, Adesanya chose to take on Yoel Romero instead. Costa even attempted to fool the UFC to get medical clearance by using a fake doctor.
The “Soldier of God” is widely considered to be the most dangerous fighter in the UFC Middleweight division, and could turn out to be Israel Adesanya’s toughest fight. Romero has stated that he plans to knockout the champion after he makes “one mistake”.
Despite being rivals, Paulo Costa still wants “The Last Stylebender” to get his hand raised in the main event at UFC 248.
“The Eraser” sent a tweet to Israel Adesanya ahead of tonight’s UFC 248 event, taking a shot at the champion.
“Let’s go Skinny, do something but no die mother*cker. Please.”
Clearly, Paulo Costa wants to be the first fighter to defeat Israel Adesanya inside the Octagon. The two have been trash talking each other for some time now. Recently, Adesanya came under some heat for his controversial reference to the 9/11 terrorist attack, when discussing how he plans to win against Romero. The Brazilian appeared to be extremely angered by this, sending out tweets threatening to kill Adesanya.
“Israel Adesanya. You are a disgusting piece of shit. How dare you make a joke disrespecting the thousands who died and the heroic firefighters and police. I will really kill you, dirty kiwi.”
Israel Adesanya later issued an apology for his comment during an Instagram Live Feed, stating that he didn’t want to offend any of the heroes or victims involved in the 9/11 terrorist attack.
“I never made a joke about people dying or made light of the tragic event that was 9/11,” Israel Adesanya explained. “I was simply rambling and my brain worked faster than my mouth in a moment to (choose) the wrong euphemism. You speak on the mic enough times and you’re bound to miss the mark with some bars. I did on this one and for that I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful in (the) future with my words.”
