UFC Welterweight Nate Diaz has taken shots at his longtime rival Conor McGregor after the Irishman vowed to treat 2020 as a sports season.
The Stockton badboy took to Twitter, where he seemingly took a verbal shot the Irish star, asking what had happened to his alleged “season” in 2020.
“What happened to your season? I was allready back in by now wtf”
Last year, prior to his comeback against Donald Cerrone, Conor McGregor vowed that to treat the 2020 calendar year as a “season”, planning to remain active throughout the year.
McGregor made his Octagon return in the main event of January’s UFC 246 event, where he stopped Donald Cerrone in just 40-seconds.
After the win, the “Notorious” suggested that he might wait for the outcome of April’s highly anticipated UFC Lightweight world championship between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
UFC president Dana White seems to be onboard with that idea, stating that Conor McGregor would be next for ‘The Eagle’ if the beats ‘El Cucuy’ this April.
Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor have squared off in the Octagon twice, with both of those contests taking place in the Welterweight division.
In their 1st scrap at UFC 196, Diaz shocked the world by upsetting McGregor in the 2nd-round, winning by submission on short notice. The two rivals would rematch at UFC 202, and this time it was the Irishman who walked away with the win by way of a majority decision.
Many in the MMA community thought that the decision was awarded to the wrong man. A trilogy between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor would certainly do big numbers, so it will be interesting to see if and how ‘Mystic Mac’ responds to his Stockton rival.
