It was reported earlier that UFC Brasilia has been converted to a closed-door event over growing concerns over the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.
UFC Brasilia is headlined by a lightweight bout between Kevin Lee and Charles Oliveira. The event is set to take place this weekend in Brasilia, Brazil. It was recently announced that it will be converted to a closed-door event due to the growing concerns over the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.
Despite this change, Kevin Lee is still looking forward to the event and appears to not be too bothered about the lack of an audience in the crowd. He gave the following statement on his Twitter following the change of the event type:
“I’m good with fighting in an empty arena. Let’s not panic too crazy, let us fight, entertain the people stuck at home.”
At this time, Charles Oliveira hasn’t commented on the change of events ahead of his fight against Kevin Lee at UFC Brasilia.
The fans are in for a treat this weekend. Kevin Lee is coming off of a devastating knockout victory over Gregor Gillespie back in November of last year at UFC 244. The victory put him back in the win column after back-to-back losses to Rafael dos Anjos and Al Iaquinta.
Meanwhile, Charles Oliveira is riding a 6-fight winning-streak with impressive stoppage victories over the likes of Clay Guida, Jim Miller, David Teymur, Nik Lentz, and most recently Jared Gordon, who Oliveira was able to stop by knockout at UFC’s last event in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
It was recently announced that ONE Championship are also taking similar measures and converting some of their upcoming events to closed-door shows.
