Colby Covington’s teammate at American Top Team, Joanna Jedrzejczyk says that the former interim champion needed a reality check and Kamaru Usman was able to humble him.
Covington is one of the most outspoken fighters on the UFC roster. In the lead up to his fight against Kamaru Usman, he consistently took verbal shots at other fighters on social media and in interviews, including his teammates. In fact, Covington had offended Jedrzejczyk to the point, where she wanted an apology from him, saying he should be more respectful to his teammates and women in general. Since Usman finished Covington in the 5th-round by TKO, he appears to be more humble than before.
Jedrzejczyk recently spoke with TMZ Sports, saying that her teammate at ATT, Covington needed a reality check and that’s exactly what he got from Usman, when he finished him in the main event of UFC 245.
“Usman already (gave him a reality check). He humbled him,” Jedrzejczyk said about her teammate, who she says has improved his attitude since the fight.
“He’s better now,” she said about Covington’s improved attitude.
Jedrzejczyk had actually told the media before UFC 245 that she hopes Usman beats Covington. Despite being teammates at ATT, Covington’s trash talk to Jorge Masvidal and Dustin Poirier frustrated Jedrzejczyk.
Despite Jedrzejczyk’s frustration at Covington, she says that they are still teammates and ultimately wishes the best for him, despite all the comments he’s made about other fighters at ATT.
“I wish him all the best, you know? He’s my teammate and I wish him all the best,” Jedrzejczyk said.
“Sometimes he should behave better. Don’t act like that.”
