Joanna Jedrzejczyk believes that she could beat Rose Namajunas in a potential trilogy fight, if she wins the title at UFC 248 against Weili Zhang.
The Polish women’s fighter, Joanna Jedrzejczyk will be taking on Weili Zhang in the co-main event of UFC 248, in the Chinese women’s champion’s 1st title defense. Jedrzejczyk is confident that she will win as she feel that she is the better fighter will get her hand raised on March 7.
If Joanna Jedrzejczyk win the belt, she has a few options for her 1st title defense, with fighters like Tatiana Suarez, and a Jessica Andrade in the waiting line. Her ideal choice would be the trilogy fight against Rose Namajunas, which she believes would be a money fight. Jedrzejczyk says it is a fight she knows she can win.
“I am really proud of myself and my team of how we fought that last fight against Rose Namajunas. The fight could have gone either way and the loss was hard to swallow and maybe I didn’t do enough. Now, I know I believe in myself 100 percent and can do enough to win,” Jedrzejczyk said to BJPENN.com. “I’m really happy for Rose that she is back and fighting Andrade and having the rematch. We will see what is next, but that fight makes sense as it is big money. I want that one.”
Jedrzejczyk and Namajunas first fought back at UFC 217, a bout that seen Namajunas as a considerable underdog. She was able to shock the world with a 1st-round knockout win over Jedrzejczyk. The two women had an immediate rematch at UFC 223, where Namajunas was once again able to best Jedrzejczyk, winning the fight by a very close decision.
Since then, Namajunas suffered a knockout loss to Jessica Andrade at UFC 237 and is now scheduled to rematch Andrade at UFC 249. If Namajunas can get her hand raised against Andrade and Jedrzejczyk beats Zhang as she suspects, the trilogy fight would be a great one to make.
