UFC Middleweight contender Darren Till will be watching the Middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero at UFC 248 closely.
Darren Till recently spoke to MMA reporter Jim Edwards, sharing his prediction for the UFC 248 main event. He believes Israel Adesanya will hold onto his title, but doesn’t want to offend Yoel Romero, who he considers a “monster.”
“Adesanya is on roll and I think he may just take it. I don’t think he will stop him. I think it will be a hard fought 5 rounds. Yoel is very capable of an upset. I don’t want to piss off Yoel. He’d f***ing kill me. He’s a monster.” Till said.
This isn’t the first time Till has admitted that he is afraid of Romero. In fact, he’s said in the past that he does not fear any of the middleweights on the roster — except for the Cuban powerhouse.
The former UFC Welterweight Darren Till made his Middleweight debut last November, when he faced former interim title challenger Kelvin Gastelum in the co-main event of UFC 244. After beating Gastelum, he earned himself a spot in the Middleweight top 5.
Since then, Till has had asked for the former UFC Middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, but the bout never materialised. Till was then expected to face Jared Cannonier, but the bout was scrapped due to injuries.
Before his move up to Middleweight, Till competed in the UFC Welterweight division. He put together notable wins over the likes of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson that earned him a title shot. After failing to capture the title from former Welterweight kingpin Tyron Woodley, he also lost his next fight to Jorge Masvidal.
