Former UFC Light-Heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell says he would do WWE and reveals that his dream matchup is against The Rock.
Chuck Liddell used to be the longest reigning UFC Light-Heavyweight champion and still remains one of the most famous MMA fighters of all time. He came out of an 8-year retirement for a trilogy fight against his career-long rival Tito Ortiz at a Golden Boy MMA event in November 2018. He lost the fight by knockout and has not competed in MMA since. At age 50 it seems unlikely that we will ever see the legend competing in professional MMA again.
However, Liddell has revealed that he would be interested in a different type of competition. In an interview with TMZ Sports, Liddell said that he is interested in wrestling for WWE.
“Of course, yeah, I’d still do WWE, I’d still do pro wrestling. That’d be a lot of fun. I’d like that,” Liddell said.
When asked who is “The Iceman’s” dream matchup in professional wrestling, he said he would want to face The Rock.
“Oh man, I don’t know. I don’t think The Rock’s still in it there. He’s always fun to do something with,” Liddell said.
Liddell also revealed that he is impressed with what professional wrestlers do.
“I’m impressed by the stuff those guys do. They do some crazy stuff,” Liddell said.
The UFC legend also stated in the interview that he is officially retired from competing in MMA, but still cautioned that he would be open to a return if the opportunity was right. Considering the outcome of his trilogy fight against Ortiz, it doesn’t seem likely that the former champion will actually return.
