A leaked email sent by UFC president Dana White to all company employees has revealed that the next 3 UFC events have been postponed indefinitely.
The UFC have been trying their best to keep their scheduled events running, despite the growing concerns over the outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Unfortunately, the UFC are now looking to “indefinitely postpone” its next 3 events, which were scheduled for London, Columbus and Portland, respectively.
UFC research analyst Michael Carroll reported the news earlier, citing an email sent from UFC President Dana White to all company employees.
“This weekend’s UFC event, as well as 3/28 and 4/11, have been indefinitely postponed per an email from Dana White to all UFC employees. #UFC“
“Dana has praised the efforts of all employees for working so hard to constantly make it happen everywhere and every time. But, with the current state of affairs, it’s simply impossible.”
He also revealed that the UFC have offered support to any employees and their family members if they require medical support in the near future:
“The UFC also offers support to any employee and/or family member who may require medical support in the coming weeks/months. Positive email tbh.”
UFC London event was scheduled to take place this Saturday in London, United Kingdom. Travel restrictions were recently put in place between the United Kingdom and the United States, which forced the UFC to cancel the event.
Following UFC London this weekend, the next event was scheduled to take place in Columbus, Ohio on March 28, followed by UFC Portland, Oregon on April 11. Initially, both of these event were expected to be converted to closed-door events and relocated to the new UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, but have now been cancelled entirely amid the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.
Fans around the world are concerned about the UFC 249 event, which features a UFC lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. It’s set to take place on April 18 in Brooklyn, New York, but the state of New York have recently suspended all large events.
