Khabib Nurmagomedov’ father and trainer Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov has revealed the location of where he believes the UFC will move the next month’s UFC 249 event.
UFC lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson was originally scheduled to take place on April 18 in Brooklyn, New York. The state of New York recently banned all large events with more than 500 people in attendance, leaving the UFC 249 even in jeopardy.
Despite the ban, UFC president Dana White has assured the fans that this fight will still take place on 18 April, although it will most likely have to be relocated.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager and friend Ali Abdelaziz has also stated that the highly anticipated fight between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson will go ahead on April 18, as scheduled.
During a recent appearance on the SportsCenter, UFC president Dana White revealed that the fight will “probably not even going to be in the United States”. This has left people to speculate on a possible new location for the event.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father and trainer, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov recently spoke to MMA Fighting, revealing what he believes to be the new location of UFC 249.
Here is what he had to say:
“Most likely it will be Dubai,” Abdulmanap said of UFC 249. “Firstly, it’s easier to fight diseases because of the heat. And I think the Emirates will pay for the UFC fight faster and easier.
“Abu Dhabi may well be, but then, [that’s up to] Dana White. I can’t approve, but there are more chances there.’
Khabib Nurmagomedov has previously defended his title in Abu Dhabi, where he defeated Dustin Poirier via rare naked choke in the 3rd-round at UFC 242.
